Plot Outline: "Nanking" tells the story of the rape of Nanking, one of the most tragic events in history. In 1937, the invading Japanese army murdered over 200,000 and raped tens of thousands of Chinese. In the midst of the horror, a small group of Western expatriates banded together to save 250,000 -- an act of extraordinary heroism. Bringing an event little-known outside of Asia to a global audience, "Nanking" shows the tremendous impact individuals can make on the course of history. It is a gripping account of light in the darkest of times.

The DVD has a static menu with one option: play (it’s my first edit, cut me some slack); the video is letterbox 16:9; the audio read 2-ch stereo when I was authoring the dvd but plays in surround sound so I’m not sure.

To make a movie that could be more of a companion piece to the first JP movie in terms of tone, pacing and story.

Your way to achieve your intention:

Taking out the unnecessary and contrived San Diege ending (plus Kelly kicking the raptor) and adding the deleted scenes which flesh out the takeover of InGen and the characters of Roland and Arjay.

What is it about? This is an ultimate re-cut of the X-Men Trilogy to make these characters closer to the comics and darker in nature. Cheesy lines were removed throughout, needless exposition was removed, dialogue trimmed for pace and repetitions were removed.

Your way to achieve your intention: the Rogue/Bobby sub plot love story is removed as is the Ellis Island attack. Also Mystique attacks upfront so that the senator is already her at the seante. This make a big dramatic change. The movie opens with X 3 opening and unused titles constructed from scratch. No scene was left untouched. The over 300 edits are included in another file. Angel subplot removed and a complete new ending.

Deleted scenes and new sequences were inserted to allow for better pacing or character development.

More music and unused cues were inserted to make certain scenes less empty
The 2 edits contain differing deleted scenes,thou some overlap.

1. Initial Wolverine shot includes an extra MC shot now and error removal from RW v1.0
2. Magneto excised from Senate speech, and Charles shot reversed to he appears to look from senator to Jean, her shot now coming second.
3. Senate cross fades to Logan drive which is now a split scene
4. Post Snow fight now seges directly to Logan and Jean recovery with longer cross fade
5. Magneto lair removed. redundant
5. End of School introduction now has 2 shots taken from deleted scenes and reverses a Logan shot to have him gaze Jean as Charles says “what you are looking for”
6. Strike at Whitehouse from X2 brought in here to establish the character earlier and to show that others know of the school, establishing peril much earlier on.
This also reveals that Magneto (who in previous sequence is mentioned as expecting a was) is also a terrorist and in Jail. We do not need to know why, since we also do not know why Charles now is in a wheelchair.
7. Scene here is slightly trimmed to disguise a continuity error and is bridged with an additional music que.
8. Cut to relocated 2nd Logan examination, so now its about experiments on Wolverine only being concentrated in viewers mind and leads into X2 plot.
9. Cut back to second session in Whitehouse with senator exit, new music segue to confirm Mystique and new segue to Mansion at night between Jean and Logan
10.Cut to relocated Magneto and Striker in Prison scene. Sets up Striker plot, and first glimpse of Magneto. New segue into scene
11. Scene cuts to the 4th new version of cerebro in which now Xavier sees Magneto to the words “you see Logan, we are not alone”…big reveal to Charles is that Striker is there. Scenes re-scored and recoloured.
12. This cuts to a new version of the Mystique search for Magneto and also finding cerebro plans.
13. Cut to new deleted scene from DVD of jean and Charles discussing Logans mind and honour before going into his dream sequence in bed and Rogue stabbing.Music is added
14. Cut to Logan’s dream which is as per REv1 and Rogue
15.New scene from DVD Deleted scenes added between Storm and Rogue to establish her in lieu of original set up. Trimmed to remove irrelevant refs and music overlay added.
16. Another new Cerbro scene to establish the deal between Logan and Charles plus his mind, but humour removed.
17.Cuts to Mystique and Mr Lorio Bar scene inserted back and trimmed to remove continuity error of “Dr Hank McCoy” on screen and refs to the registration act removed.
15. Bar scene split from toilet seduction to allow insert of Charles telling Logan about the base at Alkalai lake.
17. Cut to Alkalai lake discussion with Charles jumping back to the WC attack of Mr Lorio. We now know Magneto is coming out and Mystique is with him. Music Aded
16. Logans departure which combines footage of his running off after Rogue, is trimmed to remove refs to X men…this tones the anger down as well which would be inappropriate.
17. Closing jail sequence from X1 enhanced opening, and additional dialogue added from the deleted scene in the senate including Magnto’s iconic closing lines establishing clear conflict vs Hope.
18 Cut to Whitehouse attack and runs as per RW v1.0 until new cross fade to complete new Cerebro sequence using Deleted DVD material as per RW v 1.0
19 Continues as per RW v1. until slightly altered final Charles visit to Jail cf RW 1.0 which now includes an additional piece from Mozart’s requiem Mass (which is actually used in the attack on the whitehouse) I have added the lacrymosa, which is very apt.

21. Shot of Rogue? after cure announcement removed and deleted DVD scene of LAB added in, re-enforcing experimentation theme.

28. Pyro and Magneto chat on jet reinserts line about “dorky helmet” since xavier no longer mentions Magneto is shielding.
