* Sgt. Candy scene restored as a pre-credits sequence. Closes with the
signature drum fanfare I worked-up for the Cyberdyne scene in T1.
T-X downloading John’s lieutenants is cut, so it looks more like she’s
uploading the virus through the LA mainframe. (Since we start hearing about it
afterwards, this works really well. It makes the T-X’s primary mission to
ensure that Judgement Day actually happens).
The names of John’s lieutenants are cut during the two assassination
scenes, so it looks like she’s systematically taking out potential John
Connors, much the way the T-101 did in T1 with Sarah.
Her “gasp” after sampling “the real” John Connor’s blood is removed,
because she wouldn’t have an emotional reaction like that.
T-101’s explanation of the Lieutenants during the “escape” is removed. It
is left in later as it sets up the events at Skynet without detriment to the
story. She simply is carrying out another default program having failed to
terminate John and Kate.

Conceptual improvements/advancements of edit over
original:

In the end, the T-X is a much more logical machine now. Her
default program is now:
1) Upload virus that sets chain of events into motion
that brings Skynet online
2) Eliminate John Connor (to her analysis, she did,
since those “in the system” were taken out).
3) Eliminate Kate Brewster
4)
Eliminate Robert Brewser after Skynet is activated
5) Eliminate top
lieutenants
-> Upon carrying out #3, she gets concrete evidence that #2
was not completed.
-> If 2 and 3 are not accomplished in time to execute
#4 by 6:18 p.m., execute the time-sensitive task of #4 before resuming 2 and 3
or proceeding to #5.

Cuts removed/added/extended :
1. Alternate opening. John
Connor’s original narration has been slightly altered, plus the construction of
a Terminator is shown. Could this be John Connor’s nightmare, or something even
much worse?
The song “T3″ has been restored in this opening (this song is on
the soundtrack, but was nowhere to be found in the official movie).
2.
Removal of T-Xs line I like this car. A reference to T2’s “Say, that’s a nice
bike,” but it gets annoying because she says it again with police officer a
scene later. Here, T-X just kills, and doesnt say unnecessary lines to
insignificant persons. Shes a cold blooded killer now.
3. Removal of the
growing T-Xs breasts. In the T3 novelization it makes a bit sense, since she
lures the cop with her breasts into an alley to kill him out of sight (but
still, why lure the cop out of sight to kill him while a scene later you just
brutally shoot a kid working in a drive-in in public?). However, since the
alley-sequence does not happen in the movie, this is just a very lame example of
T-X morphing-abilities. Shes a cold blooded killer, not some cute
sexrobot.
4. Removal of T-Xs line I like your gun.As explained above. Now it
is only hinted that the T-X will take the gun one way or another.
5. Removal
of T-850s line Now when he moves forward to speak against the strippers hand.
Pathetic scene in which is shown that the Terminator does not know human
gestures. Its an infiltration unit, so it should not bow over to literally talk
to the hand.
6. Removal of the pathetic “Elton John sunglasses” scene.
Terminator just walks out of the bar, stands still a second (to take a look at
the offscreen parked cards) and then we cut to Terminator slamming the
window.
7. Removal of T-850 synchronizing his internal clock with the watch.
Although it’s an awesome scene and idea, this sequence causes more confusion
than it clears things up. The order of dates that appear is not chronological,
so we are still left to guess which date is really is. Also, the Terminator
finds the watch hidden behind the sunvisor. Since he immediately checks the
sunvisor, this shows that the Terminator is either more sophisticated/updated,
or understands more of human habbits. Now this is removed.
8. T-X just goes
into the driveby and shoots Jose without even asking his name or checking him
via her TermoVision. She just brutally shoots without a known reason for the
audience yet, just like in the first Terminator movie. Why ask for names if you
can already identify your target via an iris (or DNA) scan?
9. Same goes for
Bill Anderson. T-X arrives at his house and just slams him to the ground and
shoots him. This is also more like the style of the first Terminator movie.
Although we have seen the T-X connecting to some database, she is just killing
unknown persons while we are left to guess why at the moment.
10. Removal of
T-X’s sampling the cat lady’s blood and her reaction “No.” First of all, if it’s
the target the T-X is looking for, she wouldn’t say “no” to herself but just
continue looking for her target. Second, the T-X sampling someone’s blood is
shown in a scene later in which she samples John Connor’s blood. Redunancy
thus…
11. Removal of T-Xs orgasmic reaction after sampling Johns blood. Wasnt
my comment about the T-X being some kind of cold blooded killing machine instead
of robotic sextoy not enough?
12. Kate doesnt drop the keys (such a Hollywood
clich), the T-X is right at her when she jumps in the Tundra. This makes the T-X
a more dangerous Terminator than she was portrayed in the movie. Like the
Terminator says later on in the movie: “T-X is faster, more intelligent and more
powerful.”
13. Added shot of the T-850 grabbing the shotgun out of the truck
at the vet.
14. Removal of the line I lied. T-850 needs the time to save
John, so why bother having a conversation with Kate when you know that you will
need all the time in the world to save the person you are programmed to
protect.
15. Removal of T-X double checking when she notices the T-850 is
driving his firetruck next to her crane. She only looks one time at him and
immediately notices him, which makes her more menacing.
16. Removal of T-850s
line Excuse meto the T-X, before striking his axe into her neck during the
crane chase. Silly line, a Terminator would never say something like this in the
heat of a battle. T-X just notices the Terminator now.
17. Removed the
ridiculous conversation:
John Connor: So, shes an anti-Terminator Terminator?
Youve got to be shitting me.
T-850: No, I am not shitting you.
And you
wonder why Terminator wasn’t taken seriously…?
18. Removed T-850s second
Relax. The T-850 looks so out of place with that movement. Kates screaming can
be heard when the Tundra drives away from the explosion.
19. Removal of “Talk
to the hand.” The Terminator just stares blankly at the guy (and ignores
him).
20. Alternate conversation between John and Kate in the back of the
van, together with a future flashforward. No silly lines like “Jerky?” or “What
are you, some kind of gangmember?” John uses the Mike Kripke’s conversation now
as icebreaker to Kate. Also, the future war scenes have a meaning now, and a
reason to atsppear. Not unlike the official cut, in which they are just random
(meaningless) future war scenes (with great special effects) as opening. The
added song that accompanies the future nightmares is: Dead Can Dance - The Host
Of Seraphim.
21. Removed the T-X killing Scott. Now we don’t know that the
T-X has mimicked Scott’s appearance. This is more like T2 style, and creating a
surprise effect later on when Scott suddenly kills the police officers.
22.
Removal of the T-850s line Dont do that after being shot in the mouth by Kate.
It hints that the T-850 has a real personality (which also appears later in the
movie, when he corrects John who calls him a robot instead of a cybernetic
organism). And would a Terminator tell the one he should obey not to do
something?
Another fact is that Kate now fully realizes that this man is not
human, and this shock has more impact to her. The removal of John telling her
that it is a machine, during the conversation in the back of the van, adds now
more perspective, because Kate didn’t know that it was a cyborg when she
accidentally fired the gun in Terminator’s mouth.
23. Added two short
alternate scenes of the T-850 firing his gun while holding the coffin.
24.
Removed storyline of John and Kates children, or that Kate will even turn out to
be Johns spouse. This romantic stuff has been trimmed down heavily. The only
hints for a possible future relationship are the Mike Kripke’s conversations and
the couple holding hands at the end of the movie.
25. Removed Kates line Do
something while the T-X attacks the hearse. Like if the Terminator doesnt
understand that his mission objectives are in danger and that he needs to
act.
26. Removed human pair bounding scene. Instead the next sequence is
shown:
27. Added CRS promotional video. A nice reference to T2’s Cyberdyne
Systems. Sgt. Candy does not make his appearance. I didn’t like the fact that
CRS was alreadymaking the Endoskeletons in the present, this was supposed to
happen in the future by SKYNET. And ofcourse the fact that Robert Brewster sees
this video and does not refer to the T-850 as Sgt. Candy later on. Besides, this
video trims down the darker movie I wanted to edit, and showing the full Candy
video would only make it more comical.
28. Removed the T-850 correcting John
after being called a robot instead of a cybernetic organism. Again, it looked
like the Terminator had a personality and needed to stand up for his ego.
29.
Removal of Kate’s first kiss conversation. They now have some kind of short
giggle.
30. Removal of short conversation about Kate’s role in the future
(being second-in-command and being John’s spouse).
31. “Shell be
backvideo-sequence from the first trailer, so it has more impact.
32.
Removal of Kates pathetic line Just die you bitch, during the particle
accelerator escape. That line came suddenly out of nowhere, like Kate suddenly
needed her own one-liner.
33. In the CRS fight, the T-850 slams the T-X with
some kind of gas canister, and she spins her head. I have removed that bit. It
focusses a bit more on the action and not the T-X’s “I’m far more superior than
you”-look.
34. Removal of Johns line You cant kill a human being, you said so
yourselfduring the desire scene. In the novelization, at the cemetery the T-850
tells John he can’t kill humans. However, this is unknown to the movie watching
audience, and removing this line makes the desire scene have more impact. The
T-850 is more dangerous when it is unknown whether he can kill a human (John) or
not, and this questions if John will survive the T-850 during the desire
scene.
35. Added a shot of John and Kate dodging some flying piece of debris
at Crystal Peak after the T-850 crashes in.
36. Added a short clip of Kate
screaming while pulling John away under the blast door while the T-X holds
John’s ankle (it misses the original audio scream, since it was impossible to
use the original audio).
37. Alternate music during credits. Only Marco
Beltrami music, and most of it was missing from the official cut. Songs have
been mixed into 1 mix/suite:
- Terminator Theme
- JC Theme
- A Day In
The Life (edit)
- T3 Reprise (for the next change:)
38. Future war clip
after credits, so the audience will know that the hardest battle is not over,
but has yet to come.

Conceptual improvements/advancements of edit over original:

This fan edition runs 4 minutes shorter than the original movie.
What is left is a darker movie, following the style of the first Terminator
movie. Now, Terminator’s mission has become a race against the clock.
No more
cheesy oneliners or ridiculous scenes. The Terminator focusses completely on the
mission. The T-X is faster, more powerful and more intelligent. No more romance
between John and Kate. A complete new opening, plus a reference to T2’s
Cyberdyne Systems.

What is it about?
This is a serious take on TERMINATOR 3 to be more in
the tradition of its prequels. Lots of cheesy and unnecessary elements were
removed as well as all the references to dates and ages that contradict the
previous two films.

Cuts removed/added/extended :

New opening titles.
Removed opening nuke and John’s first V.O. Film
proper starts during John’s nightmare.
Joined both parts of John on motorbike together and
reworked V.O. to eliminate age reference and to simplify his narration.
Removed the TX’s, “I like this car.”
Added “Uploading Virus” readout to TX’s HUD. The
so-called supervirus that pops up out of nowhere does not exist in this
version. The only virus is the one she delivers. My line of reasoning is that
future-Skynet sends her back with a virus that cannot be stopped by
conventional means, thus instigating the Military’s activation of Skynet in
the here and now.
Removed TX’s Inflate-O-Boobs(TM).
Removed Kate and Scott shopping scene. The latter
half of this sequence (after General Brewster gets off the phone with Kate) is
moved way back in the film. It would make little sense for General Brewster to
be concerned about a supervirus that was only uploaded a moment earlier.
Removed T-850’s encounter with the bouncer outside
the Desert Star.
Removed zoom into ‘Ladies Night’ sign and sped-up
shot of T-850 reacting to new song starting.
Altered so that T-850 doesn’t blink when hit in the
face with a glove. (Yes, I realise that Terminators blink, but it makes him
seem scarier that he doesn’t need to when hit. Mostly I just didn’t like
Arnie’s ’startled old man’ expression.)
Removed T-850 talking into stripper’s hand, and the
rest of the scene with the star-glasses. He just breaks the stripper’s hand
and we go straight to the TX at Jim’s Burgers. Replaced song during entire
Desert Star sequence.
Removed the TX scanning Jose Barrera’s iris. As Reese
said, “Most of the records were lost during the war.” I’m not a fan of
Skynet’s files being this detailed. It’s bad enough she has John’s DNA records
on file.
Fixed the incorrect spelling of “BARRERA” on the TX’s
heads-up-display. Now her readout matches his name-tag.
After the TX kills Jose, we cut back to the T-850
stealing a truck. Removed watch on top of visor, synchronizing time, and T-850
contemplating the sunglasses. He just picks them up and puts them straight on
without looking at them for ages.
Removed newscast about supervirus seen during Bill
Anderon’s party. Bill and his girlfriend are now watching a movie instead. For
one, I needed the virus mentions all moved towards the end of the film, and
two…who watches the news at a party?
Fixed TX blinking when she shoots Bill.
Removed all references Kate makes to Mike Kripke’s
basement. Also removed Kate mentioning them being in the 8th grade when John
disappeared. As with the John’s age, this is incorrect. We don’t need to know
how John knows Kate, it’s enough that he just does. In my mind, Nikki Cox was
Kate Brewster in T2. She had red hair and certainly knew John back then.
Removed TX scanning Betsy’s blood and speaking to
herself about it.
Removed some of Kate’s whimpering when hiding from
the TX. The TX is so close, she should really hear it.
Removed TX’s visible reaction to John’s blood ID. I
don’t have a problem with Terminators showing reactions to things, but this
one is a little over the top. Even if she were human, I’d have probably cut
it.
Removed Kate dropping her keys.
Removed T-850’s line to Kate, “I lied.”
Removed all the talking between John and the T-850
when first meeting in the hallway. John comes across like an idiot. “Are you
here to kill me?” No, son…if he were you’d be dead before you got the question
out. Now, the Terminator strides up and just grabs John right away.
Removed T-850’s line, “Keep moving!” I’ve tried to
make the Terminator as taciturn as possible, removing any lines that really
aren’t needed.
Removed T-850’s, “Get out of here! Now!”
Moved the paramedics finding the T-850 to a little
later. Helps minimise the fact that they just stand next to him for a long
time doing nothing. Also removed them trying to move him. It’s a stupid
moment, and since when are paramedics in the habit of just dragging accident
victims around without knowing what has happened to them?
Removed T-850’s line to the motorcycle cop, “Get
off!” It’s obviously looped after the fact, and it’s not needed.
Removed John hitting the inflatable toy in the front
yard during the car chase. “Boing”?? I could have just taken the sound effect
out, but taking the shots out altogether actually made the sequence flow
better.
Re-instated an unused piece of score during the crane
chase.
Removed reverse-motion shot of Fire Truck heading
straight for the T-850. It’s too obviously in reverse due to the exhaust
fumes.
Removed TX smirking to herself after shaking the
T-850.
Removed T-850’s to the firemen, “I’ll drive” and “Get
out.” The ‘Get out’ is another obvious loop job.
Removed TX’s double-take when seeing the T-850 in the
firetruck.
Removed the Terminator’s, “Excuse me.” to the TX.
Substituted a metallic clink, (the axe hitting the side of the crane) which is
what gets the TX’s attention instead.
Removed “Move over” when the Terminator climbs into
the driver’s seat of Kate’s truck. Another looped line.
Removed all of John’s idiotic, “Do you even remember
me?” talk.
Removed, “I am unable to comply” when Kate tells the
Terminator to drop dead.
Removed John’s question, “Where are you taking me?”
and the T-850’s reply, “To a safe location.”
Removed the T-850’s claim that, “Judgement Day is
inevitable.”
Removed, “I’m an obsolete design.”
Removed all the talk about the TX being an
anti-Terminator Terminator, and “I am not shitting you.”
Removed T-850’s second, “Relax!”
Replaced the song playing in the ampm store. I cannot
stand “Dat Funky Man” or whatever it’s called.
Fixed jump-cut when TV is shown switching channels.
Removed T-850 leaving the store. No ‘Talk to the
hand’ at all. We can just assume he paid for the items. A few moments later,
we will see the clerk calling the police due to Kate’s screaming. Wouldn’t he
have been a bit more shaken, and already calling the cops if a huge dude in
leather had just robbed him moments earlier?
Removed all the revisited talk of Mike Kripke’s
basement, and John’s idea that he and Kate were destined to meet.
Erased the tire-iron from the back of the vet truck
as it speeds down the road. The T-850 already removed it and threw it away.
Removed the TX killing Scott, and the cops coming to
the door. The scene sucks, and this way it’s a mild surprise when the TX kills
the cops a few minutes later.
Removed the dates on Sarah’s plaque. Both dates are
completely wrong.
Removed John saying that Sarah “…fought for three
years” against leukaemia. Now he just says the more ambiguous, “She
fought…long enough to make sure the world didn’t end.”
Removed John telling the T-850 that it was the
closest thing he ever had to a father. John just comes across as stupid, as he
knows full well that this is not the Terminator that protected him in 1995.
Removed the T-850’s, “My mission is to protect you”
to Kate.
Removed T-850 spitting out the bullet. Gee, sure is a
lucky shot that Kate managed to shoot a bullet into his mouth while it was
closed.
Removed all of John’s, “Why me?” stuff, and the T-850
‘convincing’ him to fight.
Moved driving scene with Scott and the cops to after
Kate meets Silberman. Reframed one shot to cover the fact that the TX’s arm
isn’t behind the seat where it should be. Trimmed out one shot of the driver’s
terrible ‘pain’ acting, and removed shot of TX’s hand slowly taking the
steering wheel.
Trimmed out the last few moments of Silberman’s
ramblings. Way to run the joke into the ground, folks.
Removed T-850’s casualty readout after shooting at
the SWAT team.
Removed the T-850 telling John that Kate will be his
wife in the future.
In the graveyard, the TX stupidly reverts back to its
default form for no reason before trying to kill Kate. To try to help justify
this, I’ve moved up the shot of John and the Terminator approaching in the
hearse. It’s not much of an excuse, but at least it’s something. Sort of like
the TX knows it’s busted, so there’s no need to keep up the ruse.
Removed shot of the hearse turning and losing a
hubcap. It loses the same hubcap again a moment later.
Removed the last few frames of the TX jumping onto
the hearse. There was a moment of ‘float’ to the cable work there.
Removed Kate screaming, “Do something!” at the
Terminator.
Erased visible safety cables and effects markers from
two shots of the TX on top of the hearse.
Removed the T-850’s deadpan line, “We need a new
vehicle.” And John and Kate’s dumbfounded stares. A very sitcom-esque moment.
Removed the hearse’s door falling off the hinges when
the Terminator opens it. More sitcom “hilarity”.
After Kate has her little cry, we cut to General
Brewster talking about the super-virus. Then we come back to John and the
T-850 discussing the TX’s hit-list. Removed John asking about his future
marriage to Kate.
Removed John theorising about fate and he and Kate
getting together back before T2.
Removed all the business about, “You cannot
self-terminate.”
Removed line about Skynet assuming control over
global communications. How can it when it hasn’t been brought on-line yet? The
virus is the one affecting out communications.
Removed Kate finding out about her marriage to John.
Removed small-scale flying H/K and endoskeleton at
CRS.
Removed final mention of Mike Kripke’s basement, and
T-850’s line about levity.
Removed line about Skynet operating at 60 teraflops
per second. The ‘PS’ in teraflops already stands for ‘per second’ so it’d be
an awfully stupid thing for a technician to say.
Removed “She’ll be back.”
Removed John’s line, “Skynet is the virus!”
Removed General Brewster’s line about Pandora’s box.
It’s very trite, and I prefer that the shot focuses on Kate’s reaction instead
of his rambling.
Removed the Terminator telling John and Kate to run
when the TX shows up. They should know to run just fine without being told to
all the damn time.
Removed the TX’s head spinning all the way around.
Removed a few frames from when the T-850 steps on the
TX’s head. The original shot had a little reverse motion in it, and looked
silly.
Removed the TX turning her upper body all the way
around.
Removed the TX stomping the T-850’s head off. It’s
stupid that it would go back on fine with no effort, and some of the CG looks
really crummy. She injects her nanobots while he is still reeling from the
electrical shock.
Removed John and Kate versus the small flying H/K.
Removed Kate’s, “Just die, you bitch!” and a few
frames at the end of the scene when you can see someone else at the end of the
tunnel.
Removed the T-850 putting his head back on.
Removed, “You can’t kill a human, you said so
yourself!” The T-850 never said this.
When the Terminator is smashing the truck, removed a
few shots that ruin the continuity.
Removed both shots of the plane with the wrong call
letters on the side.
Removed, “I’m back.”
Removed a bunch of the TX’s roaring and screaming. I
couldn’t get all of it out without it being ridiculously choppy, but I snipped
as much as I felt I could.
Removed Kate’s suggestion to just let the bomb go
off. She’s awfully quick to embrace suicide.
Slightly different ending, features no V.O. from John
about the virus/Skynet, alternate musical cue, and a different final shot of
the film.
Shortened end credits and replaced music. Score only,
no songs.

fanedit: To reduce the cheese, and eliminate all the references to dates
and ages that contradict the previous two films.

Additional Comment: For the real nerds, be on
the lookout for all the easter eggs added to the film. There are several, and
they all refer to the previous Terminator films, or other James Cameron
projects.
